Switch without starting over
Point Multipass at your Plex install and it reads what is there: your libraries, what every person in the house has watched, where they got to, and their playlists. It takes minutes, and your Plex install carries on working exactly as it did.
The part that matters
The importer never moves, copies, or renames a single media file, and never writes anything into your Plex folder. Your storage is not doubled and your Plex server keeps running. Try both side by side for as long as you like, and import again at the moment you actually switch.
How it goes
- It finds Plex on its own. Open the importer and it looks in the usual places. If your Plex lives on another machine, point it at a folder or upload the file it asks for.
- You say where the files are now. If your paths changed on the way over, you remap them once and it applies everywhere. It warns you if one of your libraries sits inside another.
- You match people to profiles. Every Plex account is listed with how much watch history it carries. Send each one to a new profile, an existing one, or skip it. You decide who gets created.
- You check the plan, then apply it. Nothing is written until you have seen exactly what will happen. Anything we cannot match with confidence is listed by name rather than guessed at.

Questions people ask
Do I have to turn Plex off first?
No. We read a copy of its database and never write to it. Run both for a month if you want, then import again when you are ready so the history is current.
Does it need my Plex account password?
No. It never contacts plex.tv and never asks you to sign in to anything. Everything it needs is already on your own machine.
Will my family have to re-watch things?
No, and this is the bit most migration tools cannot do. Because we read the database directly rather than going through an API, we get every household member's history, not just the account holder's.
What if it gets something wrong?
You see the whole plan before anything is written, and anything ambiguous is named in the report instead of guessed. After the import, any title can be re-matched or edited by hand, and your edits stick.
What does it cost to try?
Nothing. The server and every app are free, and everything on your home network stays free forever. Watching from outside the house is the paid part, and that starts with a 30-day trial.
